Learning at Barrack Hebrew Academy
Enter
the foyer of Barrack Hebrew Academy and you'll feel the excitement.
Here is where students pause to exchange ideas, to review
assignments, to informally exchange ideas with teachers,
to relax and catch up. The energy in this room is almost
tangible. It is the energy of Jewish youth who are being
intellectually challenged, who are actively engaged
in the process of becoming thinking young adults.
Peer into Barrack Hebrew Academy's classrooms and you'll
see something inspiring. A discussion of the Book of
Job evolves into a gripping dialogue about the nature
of good and evil. A teacher pauses from her geometry
lesson to make sure a student understands the unique
qualities of a tetrahedron. A review of the career of
Pericles serves as a vehicle for students to develop
their own rhetorical skills.
Stroll
past Barrack Hebrew Academy on a weekday evening and you'll
notice something unusual. The lights are on. Inside,
students are rehearsing plays, discussing the hottest
software, honing their debating skills, practicing a
choral presentation, editing the student literary magazine
or perhaps just shooting hoops after basketball practice.
