Former SA President, Samantha Cramer, speaks to a group of student leaders at the US Constitution Center.

Student Government

The Student Association (SA) at Barrack Hebrew Academy provides an active voice for our students who meet with Barrack Hebrew Academy principals and our Head of School once a cycle to discuss policies and issues pertinent to student life. SA officers also serve on Barrack Hebrew Academy's Board of Directors, Education Committee and Athletic Committee.

All student organizations and clubs operate under the umbrella of the SA and an academic department or division. Elected officers serve from March until the following March.

In addition, the Middle School Council provides representation for Middle School students beyond their representation in SA. The Middle School Council deals with issues and fundraising for the Middle School only.

There are three standing committees of the Student Association:

  • Judicial Board, chaired by the SA Secretary. With two representatives from each grade, plus the SA Secretary, the Judicial Board serves as a Student Court, Board of Constitutional Review, and Student Voice.
  • Finance Board, chaired by the SA Treasurer.  With two representatives from each grade, plus the Middle School Council Treasurer, the Finance Board approves all requests for sales and projects, audits clubs' finances, and assures that appropriate Tzedakah contributions are given to Chesed Committee.  Click here for the SA Official Sale Form 2007-08
  • Chesed Committee, open to all students. Coordinates and publicizes Chesed projects and distributes clubs' Tzedakah contributions.
