School Visit and interview
Part of the admissions process ia a parent and student interview with the Director of Admissions. It is strongly suggested that applicants who apply
during the school year plan to visit Barrack Hebrew Academy
for a school day.
Hebrew Testing
23% of Barrack Hebrew Academy's current study body had no prior
Jewish day school education. Students with afternoon
Hebrew School training can easily enter our Hebrew program. Students
need to be able to read Hebrew phonetically. Comprehension
is not necessary for our beginning program. Students,
however, need to be able to write Hebrew script, not
block letters. If students have not been taught to write
the script letters in their afternoon Hebrew school
classes, they can easily learn this skill during the
summer. Each applicant is tested to determine the level
of his/her Hebrew background. Testing is held prior
to the opening of school.
Admissions Test (ISEE)
This test is administered at various times during the school year. The test is multiple choice
and consists of verbal and mathematical sections and takes 3 hours to complete. Cost for the
testing, payable to Educational Records Bureau, will be assumed by the parent of the applicant. Please see our school calendar for testing dates. Please contact the admissions office for an ISEE booklet and sign-up form.
Decision
Each application will be reviewed as soon as the admissions
process is complete. Applications are considered individually
by the Admissions Committee and according to available
vacancies. Applicants will be notified of their status
soon after completion of all admissions procedures.
Students are considered for admission to Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy based on evidence of the applicant's desire
and potential for success in a dual college-preparatory/Judaic
Studies program. Upon acceptance, a prompt reply and
return of the enrollment contract, along with a $1,000.00
enrollment deposit, are required
to reserve a student's place at Barrack Hebrew Academy. The enrollment
deposit is non-refundable and is applied toward the
final tuition payment of the year.
